560 hp instead of 460 hp
At the Eurasia Expo 2023 exhibition, which was held in early December in Iran, not only Lada Granta and Lada Vesta were presented, but also the flagship KamAZ K5. Considering that an import-substituted version appeared this year, the plant may well supply it to foreign markets – not only Belarus, but also further away.
The KamAZ-54901 long-haul tractor was shown in Tehran, with a more powerful engine than the Russian version – 560 hp instead of 460 hp The engine is paired with a 12-speed automated transmission with a retarder.
In fact, KamAZ already sells trucks in Iran, about 700 vehicles have been sold, but the K5 family was shown for the first time on the local market. According to the editor-in-chief of the publication «Behind the Wheel» Maxim Kadakov, the supply of KamAZ trucks for the Iranian part of the international transport corridor «North-South» is being discussed, as well as the application of the local logistics operator Iranian Shipping Lines.
Meanwhile, for 2024, KamAZ has planned a threefold increase in production of flagship K5 generation trucks.
