It competes with the Model S Plaid and Porsche Taycan
The Lotus Emeya enters the Chinese market with four trim levels and a wide price range from $93,750 to $165,600. This superliftback has up to 675 kW (917 hp), a long range and a luxurious four-seater interior. Lotus Emeya will be available in European markets in the second half of 2024.
Lotus was formerly a British manufacturer of high-performance cars. Due to financial instability, Lotus changed hands frequently. In 1996, the British automaker came under the control of the Malaysian Proton. And 21 years later, the Geely Group acquired both Proton and Lotus. The former British automaker's electric vehicles are now developed and manufactured in Wuhan, China.
In 2022, Lotus released its first production electric car — Eletre crossover. Now Lotus Emeya is entering the Chinese market. Lotus Emeya received a Chinese name for the local market, which translates as «Blooming Flower».
It will compete with the Model S Plaid and Porsche Taycan. According to Lotus, the four-door electric car can accelerate to 100 km/h in 2.78 seconds and reach a top speed of 256 km/h.
The equipment includes a battery with a capacity of 102 kW•h, providing a range of up to 520 km. Support for 350-kilowatt charging allows you to replenish the range by 180 km in just 5 minutes. In 15 minutes you can charge the battery to 80%.
The model is equipped with a KEF audio system, as well as electronically controlled air suspension. The suspension is automatically activated based on sensors that «measure road conditions 1000 times per second». The car is equipped with two Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chips, four LiDAR and two Nvidia Orin X chips.
