Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna promised that the company's future electric cars will produce the same engine sound as gasoline models.
Ferrari plans to launch its first all-electric car in the last quarter of 2025, and will open a new production site in Maranello, Italy, in June to produce electric motors, battery packs and power inverters.
Ferrari forecasts that about 60% of its sales will be pure electric and hybrid vehicles by 2026, aiming to capture market share with a range of high-performance electric supercars.
Wigner said on CNBC that the company will continue to focus on power, design and driving experience in its lineup of electric vehicles, insisting that «EVs are not completely silent».
Although the typical electric powertrain is almost silent, Ferrari engineers are developing «sound signatures» for its electric vehicles to emulate the signature roar of the gasoline engines that have powered its sports cars since 1947.
This year the company's shares have grown by 29%, last year the growth was 59%.
