Marketplace will increase the commission on these categories of goods from January 8
From January 8, the Wildberries marketplace will increase its commission on the sale of household appliances and electronics, as reported by RBC with reference to market participants. A Wildberries representative also confirmed this information, adding that on average the commission will increase by 5 percentage points (pp). According to the source, the commission on goods such as headphones, projectors, electric scooters and chargers will not change, and on a number of items — monitors, cameras, gamepads, etc. — will grow by 2 p.p. At the same time, the commission for processors increased by 7 percentage points. — from 5 to 12%, and for «smart» watch — by 10 p.p. — from 5 to 15%, as stated by RBC, after comparing price lists. It is expected that the commission will be set at approximately 10–23%.
According to a Wildberries representative, the changes will not affect other categories of goods on the site; the size of the commission for the sale of these goods has not been increased for more than a year. As for electronics, in 2023 the commission on it was reduced twice: in May and in September — separately for sellers of new Apple devices.
The electronics category includes technically complex devices that require special conditions for transportation, storage and safety. A representative of the marketplace noted that creating comfortable conditions for customers and a safe environment for sellers — the task of the site itself, but the risks associated with this are compensated, among other things, by a commission on sales. Experts believe that sellers of electronics and household appliances on Wildberries will likely include part of the cost of the increased commission in prices for the end consumer, but in order not to scare away the buyer, the cost of goods will be increased gradually.
