It should replace iX3
BMW is in full swing testing a new crossover, scheduled for launch in 2025. This is the first car of the Neue Klasse architecture, which will become the basis of the BMW lineup until the mid-2030s.
Carscoops is calling it the BMW iX3 because the car is supposed to replace the current iX3 sold in Europe, while the cars have roughly the same dimensions. But BMW has not officially confirmed this name and calls the electric SUV codenamed NA5.
It's slated to begin production in about 18 months, meaning several more prototypes could come out before then. Despite the fact that it is camouflaged, signature BMW features are easily discernible from the body, such as the curve on the rear window.
The dashboard is expected to look similar to that of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse and will not have a traditional instrument display, but instead rely on a head-up display and augmented reality.
The new car is expected to be available with a single- or dual-motor powertrain and rear- or all-wheel drive.
