The series is back with a full-fledged new game, but Men of War 2 has an unpleasant distribution feature that requires a constant connection to the network. The developers heard the players
Recently, the real-time strategy Men of War 2 was released on Steam. The project was actively criticized due to the need to be online even for a single-player game – the offline mode is still “in work”; it was not offered at launch.
The authors of Men of War 2 recently addressed the community and outlined plans for the coming months. An update is expected before the end of May, which will contain various bug fixes, it will improve the overall stability of the servers, and this patch will also begin a process that will make sure that the game does not constantly request the Internet to complete the game's single-player campaign:
«Let's just say that the offline mode is not a simple feature, as it affects many internal processes and resources of the game, so the gradual implementation allows us to provide you with many of its benefits in advance – for example, starting with next week's update, you will no longer be kicked out of a single player game for lack of any action (AFK)“.
Targets for June 2024:
We have several small updates planned that will continue to introduce offline mode for single player
- Fixing a bug that sometimes prevents you from playing in single player mode (“Error connecting to the local server”)
- Fixes an issue that prevents players from pausing the game in some single player games
Also in the plans:
- Camera movement will become smoother (camera jerks will be eliminated)< /li>
- Introducing a new feature to make it easier to switch between the main competitive and realistic game modes, as well as provide greater opportunities to customize your game
- Adding Steam achievements
- Introducing the ability to reassign keys for the pause function
- Introducing additional options for interface scaling
- Implementation of settings for the ability to enable/disable the limit of 100 frames per second (FPS)
- Introduction of functionality for exporting files from 3ds Max, as well as new plugins and various examples of how to create files inside the editor
- Further improved stability of multiplayer servers and fixed various bugs reported by players
Medium-term strategy (1-5 months):
- Regular patches for balancing and bug fixes
- Preparing several major updates, which they undertake to “implement in primarily within the next few months.”
- Highest priority – offline mode for single player
- In the general interface it will be possible to select mods for single/cooperative games; It will also be possible to select mods in the custom lobby
- The difficulty of certain missions will be revised based on player feedback – please continue to report to us any missions you find too difficult or too easy , and at what difficulty level!
- In a single game there will be settings to change the overall speed of the game
- Modders will be able to create from scratch, full-fledged dynamic campaigns in the editor and will receive a new tool – the material scheme editor
Some “planned features” (developers' plans will focus on these points, but are not yet ready to indicate specific dates):
- Various improvements for route planning vehicles
