This discount is for cars under $80,000
The recently released Tesla Cybertruck has been officially approved for a $7,500 federal tax credit.
According to the US Department of Energy, based on Internal Revenue Service data as of December 7, 2023, two versions of the Tesla Cybertruck were included in the list of vehicles eligible for the full $7,500 benefit: an all-wheel drive version and a top-of-the-line three-motor version. Cyberbeast. A rear-wheel drive version is planned for 2025.
The rebate is available for vehicles priced under $80,000, which is key since no Cybertruck sold in 2023 will qualify.
According to the Tesla website, the base price of the Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast is $99,990. In theory, the Tesla Cybertruck AWD could qualify for the incentive thanks to its estimated price of $79,990, but Tesla says deliveries won't begin until 2024.
The entire system of tax credits for electric vehicles will change again in January, when new rules regarding battery materials coming from China come into force.
