Huawei dominates in China
Counterpoint analysts predicted the situation on the smartwatch market at the end of the current year. According to their forecast, Wear OS will continue to take share from watchOS.
Last year, Wear OS occupied 21% of the market, watchOS — 53%, and all other systems accounted for 26%. Based on the current results, the share of all other systems will decrease to 24%, the share of watchOS — up to 49%, but Wear OS will increase the figure to 27%.
The share of Wear OS will grow both due to the fact that Samsung switched to it in the past, and because other companies, like OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo and others, are becoming more active in the smart phone market hours. Don't forget about Google itself with its Pixel Watch. In addition, some players who left it several years ago are returning to the market.
Also, the growth in popularity of Wear OS is partly due to the release of new Qualcomm SoCs, which have finally switched to a modern technological process and therefore can offer good energy efficiency.
By the way, in China the situation is completely different. HarmonyOS is the undisputed leader there, and the share of this system will grow very strongly by the end of this year.
