The shelves will be supplied by a Russian manufacturer
Russian Railways are planning to add compartments with lie-flat seats in Sapsan trains, as Anton Petrov, head of the company’s high-speed transport directorate, spoke about in an interview with RIA Novosti.
He noted that currently in four trains «Sapsan» There are two beds per compartment. Petrov noted that this was entirely the idea of Russian Railways, and the train manufacturer, Siemens, implemented it.
When asked whether the next batch of trains would have only two shelves per train, he answered: «Yes, two places, because for us this was the first experience, and we tried to understand how much the coupe will be in demand on the market. Today we understand that we are able to implement such interior changes. We see high load and demand for these zones. Now we are thinking about the possibility of expanding the number of such compartments on existing trains».
Shelves for the coupe will be supplied by a Russian manufacturer. «Peregrine Falcons» launched in Russia in December 2009, they operate between Moscow and St. Petersburg.
