Changes in the brand structure of the automobile market in Russia and the attitude of Russians towards Chinese cars over the past five years decided to be analyzed by experts from the agency «Avtostat» and the portal Auto Mail.ru.
Within the framework of the project «Autostat Omnibus» An online survey was conducted with the participation of more than 4 thousand car owners. The survey results showed that interest in Chinese cars has grown significantly: more than half of the respondents (53.1%) are ready to purchase a Chinese car, while five years ago this figure was only 6.4%. This indicates an increase in trust in Chinese brands. However, the survey also showed that almost one in four respondents (26.6%) were forced to purchase a Chinese car due to limited choice in the market. At the same time, 18.4% have already made such a purchase, and 6.8% consider a Chinese car as a second car in the family.
Despite this, only 1.3% consider it possible to purchase a domestically produced Chinese car. It is noted that 28% of respondents still have a negative attitude towards the idea of purchasing a Chinese car, but this number has decreased compared to previous years.
At the same time, the share of those who doubt the purchase of a Chinese car has also increased: if five years ago their share was 5.4%, now it has increased to 18.9%. This indicates that issues of quality and reliability remain relevant for potential buyers.
