C-class crossovers are in the lead
In Russia, the most popular cars were C-class crossovers based on the results of the first quarter of 2024, as reported by «Izvestia» with reference to data from the analytical agency «Avtostat».
The share of class D and E crossovers on the Russian market has also increased, but class B cars are becoming less popular. The financial capacity of the Russian market in the first quarter amounted to 1.1 trillion rubles.
In Russia during this period, 75,080 new C-class crossovers were sold, which amounted to 23% of the market. The popular crossover Haval Jolion tops the rating. Crossovers of segments D and E sold 67,921 and 25,458 cars, respectively, occupying 21% and 8% of the market, respectively (+4% and 2%). In D the Geely Monjaro is in the lead, and in E – Changan UNI-K.
B-class passenger cars reduced their share from 29% to 21%. Segment B crossovers occupied 16% of the market, while a year earlier they occupied 20%.
Partner of the analytical agency «Avtostat» Igor Morzharetto noted that since the cost of class C cars is almost no different from the prices of B-class cars, Russians choose a larger car.
