First flight will take place in 2024
Import substitution of the Russian regional jet Superjet 100 (SJ-100) is progressing: new Russian PD-8 engines have already been installed on the prototype aircraft.
This was announced by the head of the United Aircraft Corporation Yuri Slyusar, who said that aircraft manufacturers are waiting for permission to fly from the manufacturer of the PD-8 — United Engine Corporation.
«As soon as we receive permission, in the remaining days until the new year we will conduct ground mining», — stated Slyusar.
He added that at the beginning of next year the imported Superjet 100 with PD-8 engines should make its first flight, which we already wrote about yesterday. Slyusar also promised to transfer the airline «Aeroflot» the first 20 aircraft in 2024.
Before this, the head of the state corporation «Rostec» Sergei Chemezov stated that the first flight of the Superjet 100 with PD-8 engines will take place in December.
The first import-substituted SJ-100 model took off at the end of August using old Franco-Russian SaM-146 engines. According to government plans, 142 SJ-100 aircraft should be produced by 2030.
