Originally slated for release in 2025, as suggested by previous leaks, the action horror title may have to wait longer.
Known leaker ReDusk Golem hinted at the delay in a post on Discord. If the rumor turns out to be true, Resident Evil 9 could differ significantly from previous parts of the series, not only in terms of release date, but also in the development process. The title has reportedly been in development since 2018 and will have the longest development cycle in the franchise's history. In addition, according to rumors, Capcom will allocate the largest budget in history for the game, which indicates the company's desire to create a unique horror experience.
Dusk Golem also hinted at the possibility of an announcement and release of another Resident Evil game before Resident Evil 9. In addition, the tipster suggested that Resident Evil 9 may use open-world technology from Dragon's Dogma 2, which could indicate a change in the series' design philosophy.
