The leak came from DanielRPK, a popular insider known for information about Marvel movies and television. According to his latest Patreon post, Capcom intends to remake the original Resident Evil.
He claims that the project is scheduled to launch in 2026. A similar report recently came from another source, which indicated that 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil.
If this is true, then the reports mean that Resident Evil 5 Remake will fade into the background. The project may appear after Capcom remakes the first game.
The first game already received a remake from Capcom, but it is much closer to the old Resident Evil style with outdated mechanics.
There are also rumors that Resident Evil 9 is in development, due for release in January 2025.
