Proton-PM began serial deliveries of engine components for Angara rockets

The company will send 21 sets of RD-191 engine units and assemblies to Energomash

The Proton-PM company (part of Roscosmos) has begun supplying RD-191 engine units and assemblies to NPO Energomash for the Angara launch vehicle family. This is Proton-PM's first contract for serial production of such components, according to its terms, the enterprise must manufacture 21 sets of units and assemblies of the RD-191 engine. 

The delivery set included a turbopump unit, oxidizer and fuel booster pump units, an oxidizer filter and valve, a pipeline with an injector, thermal protection and thermal insulation, and special normals. The engine runs on fuel components that are new to the enterprise, so it was necessary to master additional technologies: applying ceramic coatings, titanium casting and processing parts for oxygen.

RD-191 — liquid rocket engine with afterburning of oxidizing gas, running on oxygen + kerosene fuel components. It is used on the first and second stages of the new environmentally friendly launch vehicles «Angara».
