The platform allows ChatGPT subscribers to publish their own specialized versions of chatbots – for example, people who are better at math or offer original cocktail recipes.
OpenAI announced the opening of the GPT Store in November, delaying the launch to December and then to January. At the beginning, chatbots will be placed in the list by popularity; Search by category will also be available.
OpenAI will recommend several new chatbots each week, and at the time of launch the startup was specifically looking at Canva's GPT, which helps people design logos, postcards, and more. Over the next 3 months, the startup has promised to share details about how users will be able to earn money from their own versions of GPT – this will be on an “interaction” basis, but without specifics yet.
According to OpenAI, since GPT Builder was announced in November, users have created more than 3 million custom versions of GPT.
The platform is now available to people who have subscribed to ChatGPT – Plus and Enterprise, as well as the new ChatGPT Team (paid version intended for teams of approximately 150 people).
ChatGPT Team offers access to GPT-4, DALL-E 3 and OpenAI's Advanced Data Analysis feature and data control. OpenAI says the team's data and conversations will not be used to train any of its models. ChatGPT Team costs $25 per month per user if paid annually and $30 if paid monthly.
