This gives reason for criticism
Apple has not increased the amount of RAM in the basic versions of its Mac PCs for several years. One could chalk this up to what many would consider to be typical company greed, but history shows that this is actually not the norm.
In the graphs below you can see how Apple has gradually increased the amount of RAM in the basic versions of its all-in-one PCs since 1984 and in laptops — since 1999
It is clearly visible that Apple never stayed too long on any indicators and increased its volume approximately every two to three years.
However, at some point the growth stopped completely. In all-in-one PCs, this happened back in 2012, that is, 12 years ago, and in the case of laptops — in 2017.
Of course, it should be noted that if the growth rates that Apple showed in the past had been maintained, then now even the company’s basic PCs would be equipped with some sky-high amounts of RAM, which, firstly, , are completely unnecessary for ordinary users, and secondly, they would make the Mac more expensive. But modern realities and tests of current Apple computers suggest that it is enough to simply increase the base volume to 16 GB, and this will be enough for some time. But Apple instead vigorously defends its choice and claims that the Mac's 8GB of RAM — This is sufficient volume for any daily tasks. However, when the same 8 GB is found in a MacBook Pro for $1,500, questions arise.
