This is not a new generation

Asus spoke about the portable game console ROG Ally X. This is not a new generation, but an improved current model. About the same as Steam Deck OLED relative to the original version.

In particular, the heart is the same APU Ryzen Z1 Extreme, the seven-inch 120 Hz screen remains unchanged.

But, and this is the main innovation, the battery has become more than 40% larger. Asus does not provide exact data, but autonomy should clearly increase noticeably. True, most likely the mass will also increase.

Another innovation is support for SSD format M.2 2280. In addition, the console will receive more than 16 GB of RAM, but it is unclear whether it will be included in the base or for an additional fee. Asus has also moved the SD card slot, since the current Ally model has a problem with overheating and failure of memory cards.

They will ask for $700 for the updated console, that is, more than for the current model after it has fallen in price.
