According to Windows Central, Microsoft is testing a new mechanism for installing monthly updates in Windows 11, which will not require a system reboot, and all innovations in the OS will be implemented instantly. At Microsoft, updates are called “hot patches.” Testers discovered this mechanism in the latest Windows 11 update, distributed in the developer channel.

Microsoft itself defines «hot patches» like this: «updating the code of a process running in memory without restarting the process». According to preliminary data, through the mechanism of «hot patches» Microsoft will distribute security updates. Although there is no need to reboot immediately after the update, «hot patches» will still require a system reboot every few months.
