The car was presented back in 2021
As Carnewschina reports, Great Wall has decided to resurrect the project of the cool electric sedan Mecha Dragon. The car debuted in 2021 at the Guangzhou Auto Show under the Sar brand, and its price was announced at the same time — 67.8 thousand dollars. Mecha Dragon was at that time the world's first car with four lidars. In 2022, Sar certified the car in China, which is equivalent to permission for mass production. But then something didn’t work out — customers never received their cars. And now the project will be restarted.
Apparently, nothing will change in the car. But considering that «Mechadragon». was an advanced development at the time of its premiere, this is understandable. However, some adjustments may be made to the design, equipment, and power plants.
«Mechadragon» will receive a power plant consisting of two electric motors. It will produce 544 hp. and 763 N·m of torque. Acceleration to 100 km/h will take less than 3 seconds. There will also be Brembo brakes and electronically controlled shock absorbers. The capacity of the traction battery will be 115 kW·h, the power reserve— 802 km according to the CLTC calculation method. The car will support fast charging with a power of 480 kW.
Equipping «Mechadragon» will include matrix headlights, a Harman Kardon sound system with 16 speakers, three screens on the front panel, wireless charging for a smartphone.
