Land Cruiser Prado, move over. Volkswagen chief designer showed off the new Amarok

The new Amarok will transform from a pickup truck into a serious SUV

Albert Kirzinger, chief designer of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles line, posted on LinkedIn an image of an SUV (an SUV, not a pickup truck) Amarok.

As Motor1 reports, such a model could be built on the basis of the Ford Everest SUV (the current Volkswagen Amarok pickup is essentially a redesigned version of the Ford Ranger, hence the assumption).

Volkswagen previously planned to release the Amarok SUV, but this project was canceled at the insistence of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles board member for marketing Lars Krause, although Volkswagen was even testing a prototype at that time. The appearance of this picture on the Internet may now indicate that the project will be revived. Judging by the picture, this Amarok with a frame body will be able to compete with the latest Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 250.
