Tests are currently underway, deliveries of the new configuration are possible by the end of next year
Specialists of the aircraft plant «Progress» in the city of Arsenyev in Primorye, new engines and a domestic transmission were installed on Ka-62 test helicopters, according to the press service of the government of the Primorsky Territory. This is necessary for tests to expand the operational flight characteristics of the helicopter on the ground.
The promising multi-purpose medium-class helicopter Ka-62 has been in development for more than 10 years; in 2021 it was certified, but in 2022 the supply of foreign components was stopped, so there was a need to replace them with domestic ones, and then recertify the helicopter . This work is now being carried out by the Progress plant.
In 2024, the enterprise will continue to develop design documentation for the aircraft and begin manufacturing new components at the enterprise’s production facilities, noted Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Primorsky Territory Alexey Pikalov. According to him, the release of Ka-62 helicopters in a new look is possible no earlier than the fourth quarter of 2025. The Ka-62 helicopter can be used as a passenger, cargo, medical or search and rescue helicopter, it is capable of reaching speeds of up to 315 km/h.
