Warframe was released on iOS in February of this year. Since then, Android users have been waiting for the announcement of the game for their devices.
Next week will see the release of a major add-on for Warframe – Jade Shadows. In anticipation of the update, the TouchArcade portal interviewed the project's creative director Rebecca Ford.
One of the interviewer's questions was about the Android version of the game and its possible demonstration at the upcoming Tennocon 2024 exhibition, which will be held from July 19 to 20.
“We are seriously considering releasing the game on Android since it already exists. As a team, as a business, we have to decide what state we want mobile devices to be in before releasing the game. <…> I think we will make a decision by Tennocon 2024. Usually our exhibition pushes us to make decisions.” — Rebecca Ford
What does this mean for Android users? At the very least, we now have official confirmation of the existence of an Android version of Warframe. However, Digital Extremes is not confident that the user base of high-end Android devices is large enough to release the game at this time.

The fact is that Warframe is for iOS and iPadOS is a full-fledged ported version from “older” platforms, and even on “Apple” devices decent performance can only be achieved on flagship devices. So, on iPhone 11 the game runs with minimal graphics settings and “unstable” 30 FPS. The flagship iPhone 15 Pro at “medium” settings demonstrates an average of 45 frames per second. Since the release of Warframe for iOS, Digital Extremes has done a lot of work to optimize the game, but the process is still far from complete.
When to expect Warframe on Android? We'll answer this question we may receive it next month, but it is already clear that the game will require one of the flagship devices – “top for the money” may not be able to cope with such a demanding game.
