More and more portable game consoles with Windows are appearing on the market, which are quite similar to each other. But the PeakDo company showed the concept of a device that stands out from others.

Calling this a portable game console can only be conditional. Yes, one of the parts of PeakDo — This is a familiar gamepad with a screen. The nuance is that it does not have any computing hardware. — It's just a screen, a battery and a gamepad. This part is intended for streaming gaming, that is, it is a concept like the PlayStation Portal.

And this could be the end, but no. PeakDo has a second part — mini-PC, which serves as an analogue of PS5 for PS Portal. It is this part that is responsible for all data processing and data transfer to the gamepad with a screen.

Here one might think that there is no point in such a pair, because you can take a regular PC, any portable console with Android, or even a smartphone and use Steam Remote Play. Actually, exactly the way it is implemented in PS Portal. However, the point is that the PeakDo mini PC is also a portable device, as it has its own battery.

And he’s very big here — 100 W·h. Moreover, you can connect another one of the same kind. True, this is no longer a pocket product, and in the same backpack it will take up a lot of space. The dimensions of the mini-PC are 243 x 195 x 65 mm, and the weight is completely unknown. But still, such a combination provides opportunities that are not available for a combination of a regular PC and a smartphone or console with Android. In addition, data exchange between the two parts of PeakDo occurs via a dedicated Wi-Fi 6 channel.

As for the parameters, the first part has a 120 Hz Full HD screen with a brightness of up to 500 cd/sq.m (diagonal unknown) and a battery that will last for 3.5 hours. The last point is depressing, since the advantage of the two-device concept is lost.

As for the mini PC, it is based on the Ryzen 7 8840H, which runs at 54W, there is also 5G, Wi-Fi 6, an unknown amount of DDR5 memory and space for two SSDs. There is no price information yet.
