Cool pickup truck for both off-road and asphalt racing
At the New York Auto Show, Ford showed the F-150 Lightning Switchgear concept SUV. Essentially, it's an extreme version of the electric F-150 Lightning — just like the Ford F-150 Raptor is an extreme version of a gas-powered pickup truck. But only the F-150 Lightning Switchgear turned out cooler, at least due to the power, which is 588 hp
Yes, the F-150 Lightning Switchgear's power level can't compete with the Ford Raptor R's 5.2-liter V8 producing 700 hp. and 875 N·m of torque, but it completely covers the capabilities of the base Raptor with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6.
The F-150 Lightning Switchgear received a traction battery with a capacity of 131 kW·h. The power reserve has not been named, and it is unlikely that the owner of such an extreme pickup truck will be interested in it. The 563-horsepower Ford F-150 Lightning ER, equipped with a traction battery of the same capacity, accelerates to 96 km/h (60 miles) in 4.5 seconds, obviously, the F-150 Lightning Switchgear will be at least no slower.
F-150 Lightning Switchgear received 18-inch wheels and 37-inch off-road tires (there will also be a so-called “asphalt package” with regular road tires, 20-inch wheels and not such an extreme suspension). By the way, the concept’s suspension has powerful Fox shock absorbers, ground clearance in the front of the car — 343 mm, in the rear — 279 mm.
Inside the F-150 Lightning Switchgear — Recaro sports seats, four-point seat belts and a long «poker» handbrake.
