HP brought a new Omen Transcend 14 laptop to CES 2024, which it calls it the lightest gaming laptop in the world. In terms of its weight and size characteristics, this model is closer to ultraportable laptops than to gaming laptops.
The Omen Transcend 14 weighs about 1.6 kg. It's about 50g heavier than the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 70g lighter than competing superportable gaming laptops like the ASUS ROG Zepyrys G14. Performance sufficient for gaming is provided by 14th generation Intel Core Ultra 7 or Ultra 9 processors, up to 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, up to 2 TB SSD and RTX 4070 graphics card.
The HP Omen Transcend 14 gaming laptop features a 2.8K (2880×1800 pixels) OLED panel with a 120Hz variable refresh rate. The screen supports HDR with a maximum brightness of 500 nits, 100% of the DCI-P3 spectrum.
Despite its compact size, the device has two USB-A ports and two USB-C ports (one of which supports Thunderbolt 4), as well as a full-size HDMI 2.1 connector on the rear. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 modules are responsible for wireless communication. The system contains a pair of DTS:X Ultra speakers and a built-in Cloud III wireless headphone module. So you don’t have to occupy a USB port to connect them. The keyboard has RGB backlighting.
