Using Ryzen 7 8700G
Overclocking the integrated graphics core of the Radeon 780M to a frequency of 3.15 GHz, which we already talked about today, turned out to be not the maximum. Overclocker SkatterBencher went further and got the iGPU running at 3.3 GHz, and at the same time conducted tests.
Let's start with the fact that the peak consumption of the APU Ryzen 7 8700G has increased to 177 W. On the one hand, this is a lot, and a number of modern video cards consume much less, on the other hand, we also have a full-fledged eight-core processor.
For maximum results, the overclocker also overclocked the CPU itself, setting the GFX frequency to 3150 MHz, as well as the memory to an effective frequency of 7800 MHz with manually reducing the timings. In the end, it was memory overclocking that gave the main performance boost, as the enthusiast compared five different overclocking stages.
With maximum overclocking, iGPU performance in games has increased incredibly. We are talking about an increase of 45-50%, and in Furmark the figures even increased by more than 60%.
With such performance, the Radeon 780M can already be comparable to mobile GeForce GTX 1650, although, of course, overclocking, although not extreme, in this form few will implement it for constant use.
