Digital Foundry compared the new Forza Motorsport with Gran Turismo 7. For many gamers, the result obtained by British specialists may be unexpected.
Turn 10 Studios ported its flagship series to a new engine, which meant a much longer wait for this title, but after in-depth testing, Digital Foundry decided that Gran Turismo 7 offered the best quality in many aspects.
We tested specific cars and tracks, looking at the quality of ray tracing reflections, the level of detail in locations and various aspects of the simulation, to come to the conclusion that Gran Turismo 7 has a distinct edge.
John Linneman confirmed that he did not want to pinpoint a winner and was treating the comparison as an “academic exercise.” Each game is of excellent quality and offers players a solid experience, but after consulting with the rest of the editorial team, the journalist decided on the choice:
“After talking with the entire DF team and based on our experience playing both games, we decided that Gran Turismo 7 is the more visually impressive game. It's not even about hardware performance – GT7 can run on Xbox Series X, just like Forza on PS5.”
“But no matter what you play, there is no doubt that both teams put a lot of effort into creating these games. It’s extremely difficult to create something of this level and quality – even the slightest mistake will be noticed by hardcore gamers.”
