Google will stop tracking users' movements through Google Maps. Location history will only be stored on the smartphone

It is now stored in the cloud

Google has clearly committed to improving the privacy of its users' data. Yesterday we talked about third-party cookie tracking in the Chrome browser, and now the company has announced that changes will soon affect the map service.

If the user's location history is currently stored on Google servers, it will soon begin to be stored only on smartphones. As before, it can be deleted, and initially the corresponding item for saving history still needs to be activated.

When changing your phone, the ability to create a backup copy in the cloud will help, and Google encrypts this data.

The company also notes that when a user activates the location history feature, they are only stored for three months by default. Previously, this period was 18 months.
