Google smartphones will continue to rise in price. Pixel 8a will be noticeably more expensive than its predecessor, at least in Canada

But probably in other regions as well

It looks like the Pixel 8a will actually become more expensive than the Pixel 7a. At least, judging by Canadian prices.

The device was spotted at a Canadian retailer, who also indicated prices: 710 and 795 Canadian dollars for versions with 128 and 256 GB of flash memory, respectively. The Pixel 7a, in its only 128GB version, started at C$600 last year in Canada.

If converted to US dollars, then 710 Canadian — it's about 515 US dollars. In the US, Pixel 7a last year started at $500, that is, with such calculations, the difference is already insignificant, but here you also need to take into account currency fluctuations. Let us remember that earlier there were rumors that the Pixel 8a would be released in the US with a price of $550.
