The Digital Foundry team couldn't resist doing some deep technical analysis of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
The review was lukewarm, or rather balanced, as it said “an excellent but inconsistent experience.”
As stated in the analysis video and its detailed text version, even if on a graphical level this is a very high-level product, you should not ignore some problems associated with the lighting system, textures and frame rate in Performance mode.
The same problems were reported when the demo came out. The release of the full version of the game did not change the opinions of experts, who note that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth turned out to be outstanding, but not perfect.
For example, one of the highlights is the in-game scenes, which are a real treat for the eyes thanks to the improvement of the characters and the style, which leans more toward realism. Even the battles throughout the adventure will not leave players indifferent thanks to the richly detailed environment.
Problems are associated with an imperfect lighting system and sometimes incomplete shadow system. According to Digital Foundry, this is most noticeable when objects are viewed up close.
Some of the low-resolution textures left experts wondering. As for the frame rate, in order to fix it at 60 fps in Performance mode, the resolution drops to 1152p, which does not have the best effect on the visual design of the game, which is softer than in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
