Leningrad region is ready to help
The Telebalt company, specializing in the contract assembly of televisions, decided to move production from the Kaliningrad region to the Leningrad region, as reported by Kommersant.
The owner of the company, Yulia Chinaeva, confirmed that production has now been suspended, but she added that there are already plans to resume production in the Leningrad region. The authorities of the Leningrad region are ready to accept the new plant, creating a favorable investment climate.
Reasons for relocating production include logistical difficulties associated with the closure of land and air borders. This led to increased costs and time for delivery of components.
In 2021, the company's revenue amounted to 6.2 billion rubles, but by 2022 it decreased to 2.6 billion rubles due to production problems. The total number of employees was reduced threefold to 71 people.
Experts note that other enterprises in the Kaliningrad region may face similar problems due to logistics restrictions. However, authorities claim that they have already expanded cargo delivery capabilities, which has helped many companies rebuild their logistics.
The publication’s interlocutor said that companies located contract production in the Kaliningrad region due to tax incentives and convenient logistics: «But after the closure of land borders and airspace, the only possible option for supplying products was the sea route, which more expensive and longer than air and railway transportation».
Except «Telebalt T» There are other contract TV manufacturers in the area, including STI Group, Polar, &Assembleon».
