Introducing a new game in the Duke Nukem franchise in the current climate is problematic, but there are still fans. They decide to create on their own
Modder Cheello, who is known for Voxel DOOM, continues to develop a kind of “updated version” of Duke Nukem 3D. This is a voxel remake, while the graphics generally remain faithful to the original (in fact, the original sprites are replaced with 3D voxels).
The Cheello project was called Voxel Duke Nukem: in its versions of weapons, opponents and other game objects become fully three-dimensional. The developer takes the original sprites as a reference; in a recent time-lapse video he shows work on the model of the main character of Duke Nukem 3D: https://youtu.be/rdhJ9ksLtWI

It is not yet entirely clear when the voxel remake of Duke Nukem 3D might be released (the creator has not yet announced a date). This is far from the only project of the modder Cheello, for example, in parallel, he is working on a voxel version of the shooter DOOM 2 – last year he showed a trailer: https://youtu.be/M2MshI3Xyyg
