They will reduce the volume of real tests
Enterprise «ODK-Saturn» (part of the United Engine Corporation Rostec) began to introduce the concept of digital certification. A “digital twin” has been created for the promising PD-8 aircraft engine, which will help reduce the amount of full-scale testing and speed up certification. PD-8 will be used for the import-substituted passenger airliner SJ-100.
Digital testing can be used to verify an engine's cooling and fire safety systems, as well as its performance under adverse atmospheric conditions such as rain, hail and icing. In addition, computer modeling allows you to check the performance of the power plant when hit by foreign objects, such as birds.
The PD-8 engine is created in an unprecedentedly short time, and during its certification we use the most modern technologies. The point of digital certification is not to replace real engine certification tests, but to reduce their volume and not spend additional resources on it. First, the new engine is «run in» through digital twins and virtual testing. And only then, when everything is perfected, comes the turn of full-scale tests.

Recall that at the end of April this year, the first flight copy of the import-substituted domestic airliner SJ-100 arrived at Zhukovsky Airport in Moscow to undergo certification flight tests. While the French-Russian SaM146 engine is being used, flight tests of the PD-8 version of the aircraft will begin later.
