Update will help reduce overall travel time
The Yandex team announced the launch of a new useful feature for its proprietary mapping service. Now, when planning trips on public transport, the «Yandex Maps» may offer the option of ordering a taxi to the Moscow Central Diameters station.
The app will suggest a combined route if it is faster than other options. It will choose the optimal MCD station, taking into account the total travel time, traffic conditions and the number of transfers. You can order a taxi directly at the route selection stage.
The press service explained:
Using Maps data on traffic lanes, signs and parking, mappers mapped 355 drop-off points near stations. These are places where taxi drivers can stop the car without violating the rules, and passengers — it is safe to exit it and quickly get to the platform. The points are selected to reduce the overall travel time. For example, avoid a long U-turn by taxi where it is faster to use a pedestrian crossing.
