Supplies increased greatly
Analysts at Jon Peddie Research have published a report on the processor market based on the results of the first quarter. In annual terms, shipments of client CPUs for PCs as a whole grew by an impressive 33%, to 62 million units. That's a lot. In the quarter, however, they dropped by 9.4%, but this is not so important.
The lion's share of these volumes were processors for laptops. They occupy 73% of all supplies. 27% comes from desktop CPUs. This figure, by the way, changed significantly over the year, when the ratio was 68% and 32%.
Analysts also assessed the iGPU market. Here, annual deliveries increased by 30%, to 56 million. That is, almost 90% of the processors had an integrated graphics core. Analysts say that figure will rise to 98% within five years. Intel is the leader here with a share of 82%, but a year ago it was even higher (85%).
