How narrow they will be is unknown
The flagship iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max already stand out with a very narrow frame around the screen. With new iPhones it may become even narrower. A source in the industry told the Korean publication Sisa Journal Economy about this.
This can be made possible thanks to Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology. It is aimed primarily at reducing the width of the frame at the bottom of the screen. But on an iPhone, the frame always has the same width around the entire perimeter, so in the case of the iPhone 16 we will be talking about reducing the width of the entire frame.
The essence of the technology is the method of twisting the wires that go from the screen to the motherboard, which allows you to make the frame even narrower. Let us remind you that most smartphones on the market have a lower frame that is wider than others.
The technology is not new, but it has not previously been used due to problems with overheating, although it is unclear how the technology itself is related to this. Apparently, in the new iPhones, and the technology will supposedly be used throughout the entire line, there will be no problem with overheating due to BRS.
How narrow the frame of the new iPhones will be is still unknown, but perhaps Apple will be able to make it the narrowest on the market. But just a few years ago, the iPhone frames were the widest among flagships.
