BMW could have an alternative to the Volkswagen W16 engine

The BMW Classic division has announced the first public display of the prototype BMW 7 Series sedan from the 1990s: the car will be shown at the Techno-Classica exhibition in Essen. The peculiarity of the car is its 16-cylinder V-shaped engine.

Of course, the engine was created on the basis of the serial V12 engine. Four additional cylinders led to an increase in displacement to 6.7 liters, which increased power to 348 hp. The car accelerated to 250 km/h.

Externally, the car differs from both the serial seventh series sedans in the E32 and E38 body, and from the V16 Goldfish prototype built in the late 1980s. Considering that the engine power of the prototype from the 1990s is less, and there are no «ears» (air intakes) cooling system, like the previous prototype, the car shown in these photos was much closer to the production version than the V16 Goldfish. But it still didn’t go into series.
