This is data for March 2024

iPhone shipments in China increased by about 12% in March after official price cuts by Apple and third-party stores.

The data stands in stark contrast to the 37% decline in iPhone sales in the first two months of 2024, showing that Apple's strategy to curb falling sales in the Chinese market is beginning to bear fruit.

According to a March report from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, smartphone shipments of foreign brands rose year-on-year to 3.75 million units, the vast majority of which were Apple products. However, despite sales recovery in March, total shipments of foreign-brand mobile phones still fell by 27% in the first quarter of 2024.

Apple CEO Tim Cook mentioned during the last press conference that the iPhone business in mainland China has grown. Although he did not disclose further details, this statement is consistent with the increase in shipments.

Since 2023, Apple has been making every effort to improve its business in China. With the rise of competitors such as Huawei, Apple is under pressure in this important Chinese market.

The Chinese market still accounts for 18% of Apple's net sales. China is not only a key market for the iPhone, but also a core part of Apple's global manufacturing network, so global investors are keeping a close eye on its market performance.
