But this is only the minimum period
Apple is known for its long software support period for its iPhones, but the company has never officially announced a specific support period. It's a very different story in the Android world, with Google and Samsung at the forefront, promising seven years of support for their flagships. And now Apple has been forced to disclose the exact period of promised support for its top smartphones.
In line with new UK regulations, Apple has announced a minimum support period for the iPhone 15 family, specifically the iPhone 15 Pro Max. And the company decided to limit it to five years. This is obviously two years less than its main competitors. However, it is worth emphasizing that Apple announced the minimum period of support, not the maximum.
Nothing prevents the company from going beyond the designated limits, even far beyond five years, as sometimes happened in the past. Some iPhones received security updates six or more years after their initial release.
