Early leaks confirmed
How will Intel respond to this? A 55-watt AMD Strix Halo mobile APU with a huge iGPU and a 12-core Strix Point have appeared on the Internet
The HKEPC resource has obtained a 144-page document describing the specifications of some future AMD processors. In particular, there are parameters of mobile APUs of the Strix Point and Strix Halo line.
In general, we have already talked about these processors, and new data confirms all the recent leaks, but also adds some new information.
Let's start with the Strix Point APU. This is a replacement for the current Ryzen 7040/8040, that is, the most mainstream energy-efficient line. And she will become much more attractive.
If the last few generations of such APUs had a maximum of eight cores, then the new line will include 12-core models. The volume of third-level cache memory will increase from 16 to 24 MB. The iGPU will also be strengthened: firstly, it will switch to RDNA 3.5 architecture, and secondly, it will receive up to 1024 stream processors instead of the current 768. NPU performance will reach 50 TOPS. Such APUs will be FP8.
Strix Halo will be much more powerful. These APUs will have up to 16 CPU cores and up to 2560 stream processors on the iGPU, which is more than the Radeon RX 7600. Yes, the peak TDP will reach 130 W, although the base value &mdash. 55 W. But remember, this is in the presence of an incredibly powerful iGPU. NPU block performance — 60 TOPS.
All new products will support PCIe 4.0, DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR10 and USB4. It is unclear exactly when these processors will be released. It was previously thought that both lines would launch this year, but the latest data suggests that Strix Halo may not come out until next year.
