The presentation of the horror game Infestation 88 aroused some public interest, but it’s not all about the gameplay

The rights to classic Mickey Mouse recently went into the public domain. Indie developers stepped up and presented the horror game Infestation 88, which features images familiar to many.

However, many users were attracted not by the gameplay of Infestation 88, but by the title. Some saw a connection here with neo-Nazis. The fact is that “88” is used by them as a replacement for a specific greeting (H/h is the eighth letter of the English alphabet).

The creators of Infestation 88 themselves did not know about this interpretation “88”. The number appeared in the name due to the fact that the events take place in the 80s – this particular year (1988) was chosen to create a symmetrical logo design.

This gave rise to various speculations from users on social networks (coincidentally, the title has 14 characters with a space + in the game you need to “gas rats”). The developers decided to change the name, now Infestation 88 is called Infestation Origins.

This is what the old/new logo looks like.
