It will be a hybrid with a long range
Chery brought a full-size prototype of the iCAR X25 crossover minivan to the Beijing Auto Show. The car has already surprised with its design, clearly made with an eye on the prototype of the sixth generation Mitsubishi Delica, and now it’s time for new interesting details.

Perhaps the most interesting thing: Chery iCAR X25 will not be a pure electric car, but a hybrid. The Autohome resource believes that the «stroke extender» (that is, a low-volume internal combustion engine) can accommodate… in the trunk. This is allegedly indicated by the air intake slots located in the rear window area. The designers disguised them well — In the first live photos of the iCAR X25, these air intakes were difficult to see. However, the layout looks strange: will Chery really decide to return to the days of the Volkswagen T2 — the question is still open.
Engineers built additional lighting into the luggage rails instead of rear-view mirrors— cameras (but they stick out quite well), door handles are hidden in the doors, below — Quite wide footrests. The wheels have a diameter of 21 inches (!) — Apparently, they make the greatest contribution to the car's ground clearance.
Chery iCAR X25 will turn into a production car pretty soon — by the end of this year. Then we will find out whether he really will have an internal combustion engine in the trunk (more precisely, somewhere between the rear wheels).
