A portable set-top box with 24 GB of RAM and a battery that is larger than many laptops. Details about Asus ROG Ally X revealed

by alex

It will be released in June

The Asus ROG Ally X portable game console will receive a lot of RAM and a huge battery.

An updated console is expected in the near future. Asus recently only showed the device without revealing most of the parameters. Now it has become known that Ally X will have 24 GB of RAM versus 16 GB for the current version. Moreover, LPDDR5-6400 will be replaced by LPDDR5-7500, which provides an additional advantage for iGPUs. True, an increase in the volume itself is hardly advisable, given that it will clearly affect the price.

But even more impressive is the battery. If the current Ally has a cell with a capacity of 40 Wh, and this is noticeably less than a number of competitors, including the Steam Deck OLED, then the Ally X will have a battery with a capacity of 80 Wh, which is already much more than from competitors. For comparison, the MSI Claw has a rating of 53 Wh, and the Steam Deck OLED — 50 W•h. That is, the autonomy should be amazing.

However, you will have to pay for it in terms of weight and size characteristics. The console will become thicker (37 mm versus 32 mm) and heavier (678 g versus 608 g). However, the Steam Deck OLED is not particularly lighter at 640g, the MSI Claw weighs almost the same, and the Lenovo Legion is much heavier, but it also has a significantly larger display.

The console is expected in June. No price yet, but there have been rumors of $800.
