More than 4300 base stations have been transferred to the 4G standard
Operator «VimpelCom» (trademark «Beeline») by the beginning of the summer season, completed a large-scale modernization of the network throughout the Moscow region. This was reported by the company's press service.
The modernization program included the redistribution of frequency resources in favor of 4G to improve the availability of mobile Internet, as well as the construction of optical lines to create a reliable connection.
One of the stages of the project was the redistribution of the outdated UMTS 900 frequency resource to modern LTE 900. The press service explained:
As a result, the speed of mobile Internet has doubled in this range and the 4G coverage area has increased significantly. The LTE network began to reach places where previously there was only 3G and 2G. High-speed mobile Internet is now available to customers even in the most remote SNT, small towns and on roads.
According to «Beeline Analytics» the share of 4G traffic in the Moscow region is already 99.5%, and the total volume of 4G information downloaded by customers increased by 17% in March 2024 compared to the same period last year.
