O2 will maintain 3G in the country for the longest time
While many countries have not even begun to build 5G networks, in the UK they are preparing to completely disable 3G networks.
Third generation networks will not be switched off in the country immediately, but most of them will stop working before the end of this year.
Vodafone is the most aggressive operator in this matter: it has already turned off 3G networks in a number of regions and plans to complete a complete shutdown this month or next. Three plans to complete the shutdown before the end of this year, with only O2 completing the process next year.
Against this background, it is interesting to read a survey of British people regarding the support of certain networks by their smartphones.
It turned out that 13% of respondents do not know whether their phone supports 4G or 5G, and 5% even claim that they use a device that only supports 3G.
