Telegram channel «Autostream» published details about the Lada Niva Travel modernization project, designed for several years. It is reported that in 2025 this car will receive a new 1.8 liter engine, built on the basis of the VAZ-21179 engine for the Lada Vesta.
This eight-valve engine will produce 90 hp. The increase in power relative to the current engine, which produces 83 hp, is small, but something else is important here: depowering will increase the traction capabilities of the engine. As Autopotok writes, in terms of traction characteristics, the new version of the VAZ-21179 will be closer to a diesel engine. Accordingly, traction control will improve, and in almost the entire rev range.
